A little help with the first hello
Pick a topic, find a question you would actually ask, and make it your own. These openings focus on everyday interests so you can chat without asking a stranger for personal details.

What small thing made your day better recently?
Keep it going: Share a small win of your own, even if it was just a good lunch.
Turn a question into a conversation
Give a little of your own answer before asking for theirs. Instead of sending just “What music do you like?”, try “I’ve had the same three songs on repeat. What’s one track you never skip?” It gives someone a small, specific choice and a reason for the question.
Follow the detail they offer. If they mention cooking, ask about the dish rather than jumping to a new question. The suggested follow-ups here are optional directions, not a script to send in a row. A short reply may mean someone is busy or wants to keep things light.
Choose the right amount of detail
- Ask about favorite foods, not the restaurant they visit every Friday.
- Ask about a place they would like to see, not where they live or work.
- Ask about a hobby, not which school, employer, or private group they belong to.
- If a subject falls flat, offer a different topic instead of demanding an answer.
Leave space for a reply
Send one opening and wait. Repeated messages, sudden intimate questions, and pressure to move to another app make a casual chat harder to enjoy. You can close with “Nice talking—take care” when a conversation ends. Nobody owes a stranger continued attention.
This tool works without entering chat. Topic selection and copying happen in your browser; the tool does not send your selections to the chat API. Read how Chatuw works before starting a session, or review the safety guide if a conversation makes you uncomfortable.
